Dit kon vanuit glazen hokjes bij de uitgangen van de Maastunnel, die kwamen er vanaf 1954, maar ook vanuit de tunnel zelf. Indien nodig greep de politie in. Vanaf 1962 kreeg de tunnelpolitie het makkelijker door de plaatsing van stoplichten bij de ingangen van de tunnel.<br class=\"html-br\" \/><br class=\"html-br\" \/>De Maastunnel is de oudste afgezonken tunnel van Nederland. Hij verbindt in Rotterdam de oevers van de Nieuwe Maas met elkaar. De tunnel omvat vier buizen: twee voor auto&#8217;s, een voor fietsers en een voor voetgangers.
